From our military family to yours

Between Carson, Douglas, and Lyon County, where we grew up, there are nearly 16,000 veterans living, making up about 9% of the population. According to Feeding America, more than 8,000 people in Carson City alone struggle with food insecurity.

We want to invest into this community of people as far as we can reach. The sacrifice and dedication that has been asked of every one of them is understood here.

Times continue to be tough for many, but we are all strong enough to endure and evolve into something more. It starts with one step in the right direction.

“In the middle of every difficulty, lies an opportunity.” - Albert Einstein

Attack on Hunger is proud to announce the call of our greatest battle yet: creating a non-profit resource center for veterans and members of the community.

As veterans, teachers, and community health workers, it is our ambition to break down the barriers that keep our neighbors from accessing the resources that will improve their quality of life.

Through our inspiration & the impact of food, we can bring people together to provide knowledge, life-enhancing skills, and resources.

Our vision for the future consists of hosting monthly events throughout Northern Nevada. By working together, we can create enough support to give out to each other in abundance. Community helping community.

As we continue to heal and grow, we would not only like to challenge this organization and community, but the veterans that want to find purpose in continuing to serve. There is something for everybody.

We are on a mission.

Our passion is helping and connecting with the community, in the same ways others have guided us through our own journeys. The people that came before us, paved the way with wisdom to help us grow as human beings. Each of us has the ability to become that person for ourselves and others.

We are intrinsically motivated to serve those who have served for us and uplift every neighbor in need or at least point them in the right direction. Our mission is to nourish more than just hunger — we nourish the mind, body, and soul.

At Attack on Hunger, we are committed to bettering and rebuilding lives by providing essential resource connections and community support to veterans and civilians alike. The process alone can be daunting, let us guide you with dignity.

Whidbey Island, WA: Wandering for peace in the most beautiful places we can find.

The mission is service.

We want to remind everybody that no matter how hard life is, quitting shouldn’t be an option. Every day the sun rises, is a brand-new chance to start again. None of us are making it out of this world unscathed and the battles we overcome serve as lessons.

Suffering is necessary until you realize it is unnecessary” -Eckhart Tolle

Therefore, we identified the best way for us to suit our clientele is by being authentic to our knowledge by trial and error. We use the same services we offer and focus on constantly expanding our networks.

We believe with the right support, every person has the power to rise to the occasion, rebuild, or thrive. As we grow, so does our mission.

After Action Report

From duty to self-individuality, this organization has come into its own balance. The final product is never one person’s success, but a group effort and the unshakable belief that this is a battle worth fighting together.

The idea was planted in 2021 and the roots have taken years to grow. They have matured into a solid foundation, now the tree can focus on growing through the cycles to reach the stars.

Now that we are strong, we can see that the struggles and hard work were always worth it. We don’t have control of when the moments happen, but we do have control of how we respond in the moment.

What inspires you?

“No matter what is happening, at least we have a place to get a meal.”
