Empty Bowls, Full Hearts: Carson City Comes Together to Fight Hunger

On December 5th, FISH partnered with Ogres-Holm’s Pottery Studio to host their annual Empty Bowls Project, a meaningful community event dedicated to raising awareness and funds to combat food insecurity in Carson City. The event brought together local artists, restaurants, nonprofits, and residents with a shared goal of supporting neighbors in need.

Talented local artisans handcrafted ceramic bowls, each one unique and thoughtfully designed. These bowls were beautifully displayed throughout the venue and made available for purchase, symbolizing the reality of empty bowls faced by many families in our community. Guests were invited to select a bowl and enjoy a variety of soups generously donated by local restaurants, showcasing both the creativity and generosity that Carson City has to offer.

The Attack on Hunger team was honored to volunteer alongside FISH, helping serve soup, engage with attendees, and support fundraising efforts throughout the event. Being part of Empty Bowls allowed our team to connect directly with the community while contributing to a cause that aligns closely with our mission to fight hunger and promote food security.

Proceeds from the event directly support FISH’s essential food programs, including hot meal services and an open food pantry that provides consistent access to nutritious food for individuals and families facing hardship. Events like Empty Bowls not only help sustain these critical programs, but also strengthen community bonds and remind us of the power of collaboration in addressing hunger. Together, through compassion, creativity, and service, we continue to take meaningful steps toward a stronger, more food-secure community.
